Kafui Dey is a renowned celebrity TV host, master of ceremonies, broadcaster, coach, and columnist, known for his sharp interviewing style, calm charisma, and ability to make both guests and audiences feel at ease.
Born on 6 August 1971 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Kafui spent his formative years moving between Burkina Faso, London, Beijing, and Ghana because of his father’s diplomatic work. That mobile childhood gave him an early, global lens on life, and his own recollections show how deeply those experiences shaped his confidence, adaptability, and communication style.
His media journey began at the University of Ghana between 1990 and 1993, where he was one of the pioneer presenters on a private radio station on campus, putting out requests for listeners. From there, he moved into radio professionally, becoming one of the early presenters on Kapital Radio in Kumasi and later helping pioneer the all-talk format at Choice FM in Accra. He learned how to hold attention, think on his feet, and speak with purpose during those early years.
His national breakthrough came in 2009 when he hosted Who Wants To Be Rich on Ghana Television, a role he held for three seasons and which made him a household name. He later became the first host of Starr Today on Starr 103.5 FM in 2014, then the first host of GH Today on GHOne TV in 2016, where he reportedly interviewed more than 1,000 guests from politics, business, and entertainment. In 2020, he joined Diaspora Network Television to host The Next MP, and in 2021 he began lecturing Level 400 students at the Ghana Institute of Journalism in a course titled Journalism and the Arts.
From 2021 to 2025, he hosted the GTV Breakfast Show, beginning on 2 August 2021, and later announced his departure on 24 July 2025 after four years on the show. Since then, his current platform has expanded into independent broadcasting, coaching, and column-writing, including his “On Cue with Kafui Dey” column for the Business & Financial Times. He is also the author of How to MC Any Event, Public Speaking A to Z, So You Want to Be On Air?, and three children’s books.
In recent years, Kafui Dey has embraced digital media with the same curiosity that launched his career decades ago. Through his YouTube channel, he sits down with entrepreneurs, artists, policymakers, and industry leaders for thoughtful, long-form conversations that have earned a loyal following. Rather than conducting conventional interviews, Kafui creates a space where guests
feel comfortable enough to share not only their achievements but also their failures, lessons, and personal journeys. His ability to connect authentically with people from different backgrounds has become one of his greatest strengths.
Overall, Kafui Dey's journey offers an important reminder that success is rarely built on talent alone. It is shaped by curiosity, consistency, and the courage to keep showing up, even when opportunities don't come immediately. He has reinvented himself across radio, television, live events, teaching, writing, and digital media without losing sight of his purpose of helping people communicate better and tell stories that matter.
In an industry that often celebrates overnight success, Kafui's career proves that lasting impact belongs to those who never stop learning, never stop evolving, and never stop believing that their next opportunity could be the one that changes everything.
